The best gig you ever did see?
Damned: First Anniversary at the Marquee
Muddy Waters, BB.King, Dizzie Gillespie, Chuck Berry at the Ally Pally
The Clash at the Lyceum
The Count Bishops week after week at the Nashville.

I was aiming for 3 but ended up with 4. So what 4 life changing gigs have you attended?

Must give a special mention to Madstock 4 in 1998 just for the hammering Finley Quaye took . Also thought Catatonia were superb there .

Re: The best gig you ever did see?
I saw what I think was the last gig of The Teardrop Explodes at the Hammersmith Palais.
Julian Cope had obviously taken acid before the gig. As the gig went on he began to view the microphone with greater and greater concentration.
After about 30 minutes he hid, apparently from the microphone and stand, behind the PA stacks
And the band played on

Cope climbed on top of the stacks and contemplated the microphone and stand from a long lofty crouch

And the band played on

Cope then attacked the microphone, leaping from the top of the stacks like a tiger, he met the microphone at 90 degrees. Singer and microphone both hit the floor unconscious.

And the band walked off, the guitarist threw his instrument at Copes head. He missed.

The gig was over and so, I believe, were the Teardrop Explodes.

I saw A$AP Rocky at Reading at the weekend. I think he may have been stoned. Kept starting a track then not bothering to finish it. All a bit weird but he seemed like an awfully nice fellow.

AC/DC - Hammersmith Odeon Nov 4th '79

Right down the front and back when Angus was totally spontaneous on stage. Seen hundreds of bands since and nothing comes close.

Watching that Ramones gig its hard to comprehend that was 39 years ago and most of the Audience are likely in there 60,s and 3 of the Ramones are dead.

Seems only a few years ago to me.

Re: The best gig you ever did see?
Not sure.

Prodigy live are fucking awesome.

I'm a proper drum and bass head and Roni Size and Reprazent performing the 'In The Mode' album including guest vocalists were fantastic too.

I've been to many average gigs or ones I can barely remember at all as I've been too wankered.

Re: The best gig you ever did see?
Well,in August 1970,,my sister tried to pull a fast one on our parents and sneak away to the Isle of Wight festival while they holidayed in Cornwall...the problem was.....me..she had to babysit me for two weeks
So at the tender age (of barely) 15 I was hidden in the back of a Dormobile and taken to the Isle of Wight...so I saw the Doors ,Moody Blues, ELP, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Free and Hendrix..my sister didn't enjoy it 'cos she was constantly baby sitting and I was in the way of her having ...I loved it but it was somewhat lost on my youth

Re: The best gig you ever did see?
Saw Zappa at Hammersmith in '89 I think.

Rated it as 'alright' as far as gigs go.

This thread goes to show the kind of thing people growing up in certain times just took for granted.
